The big winners in are gamemakers, who dominated sales in the week since the new iPhone 3G hit stores.

It's not a complete surprise, given that one third of the applications initially available for downloading are games. But the strong showing by games at the top of the sales chart underscores the iPhone's viability as a gaming platform, as well as overall consumer interest in mobile video games.

Sales figures won't be available for several weeks, but Apple reported that 10 million applications were downloaded in the first three days.

"This is a very viable platform," Jeffery said. "We're just scratching the surface on the iPhone. There's way more we can get out of the iPhone as we learn the software developer kit."

Jeffery said he believes a certain number of consumers will buy the iPod Touch primarily as a gaming device, pitting it against established portable gaming handhelds like the Nintendo DS and the Sony PlayStation Portable.

But game developers are excited about the opportunity to write for the iPhone. Not only is it a device with mass appeal, but it's extremely robust with a strong processor, touch screen and accelerometer, allowing designers to write games that are far more dynamic than traditional mobile titles.

CLINTON TWP.   A person died after being thrown from a van in a crash Wednesday on Interstate 78 west.

The crash occurred at mile marker 21.4 in Clinton Township, just east of the Cokesbury Road exit.

"There is one confirmed fatality in the accident," New Jersey State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams said early Wednesday afternoon. "Investigators are still out there."

Williams said the New Jersey State Police fatal accident investigation unit was investigating, along with State Police crime scene investigators and troopers from the Perryville State Police barracks. A heavy rescue team waited for their investigation to conclude before retrieving the van.

LORAIN, Ohio   One person is dead after a car struck two pedestrians following a crash in Lorain on Friday night, police said. for a two car crash.

Preliminary investigation into the incident revealed a car driven by a 36 year old woman was heading west on West 23rd Street when she ran a stop sign and was struck by another car,iphone 6s plus replacement screen driven by a 58 year old man heading south on Oakdale Avenue.

Both cars spun out of control and, according to police, the car driven by the 36 year old woman spun in a clockwise motion until it struck a tree.

The 62 year old man died from his injuries, according to police.

The suspect driver was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland for treatment. Information on others involved in the incident was not immediately available.
